PicoZ MX-1 Extreme
If you’ve never played with a toy like this, you should. It will really make you appreciate how great it is to live in the twenty first century.

The advert said ‘the helicopter you can fit in your pocket’ but we weren’t quite prepared for just how dinky the MX-1 really is. If Polly Pocket were a Columbian drug baron this would certainly be her vehicle of choice. She might use it to terrify the local villagers from her secret jungle hideout, but we just used it to terrify cats. And it really does fit in your pocket, controller and all.
The joy comes from trying to master the controls and bumping into walls, ceilings, floors and everything else between in the process. The helicopter will fly and it will make a sudden strafing attack on your face, family and furniture. With a little patience, however, it will eventually begin to behave its self. You’ll never be able to use it to fetch beer from the fridge but then that’s probably asking too much. Maybe next century.
There are a number of products like this on the market but what impressed us about the MX-1 is how the controller unit doubles not only as the charger but also as a nifty case for the helicopter. This means that when you get bored it can be neatly tucked into that bottom draw with all your other pointless but amusing novelty gadgets.
Great fun, if only in short bursts. The MX-1 carries enough power for around five minutes of continuous flight but is quick and easy to charge. If Poly Pocket had to outrun the authorities she might be forced to make a quick landing. The good news is that after only another five minutes of hiding out, recharging in her neat carry-case, she’ll be back in the air again.
Go Polly, go!
